Online Secure Payments 1. Worldpay Secure Payment Policy
For millions of people around the world, WorldPay is the way to pay - trusted and secure.
An important part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, the 5th biggest banking group in the world, WorldPay payment solutions are trusted by thousands of businesses, big and small.
Our customers accept payments over the internet, by phone, fax and mail. They accept Visa, MasterCard, Diners, American Express, JCB and all the major credit cards. Not forgetting debit cards and local payment schemes like Switch, Laser, Electron and more. Bank transfers (such as the German ELV system), installments, standing-order and direct-debit style payments. All in their customer's currency and language - wherever they are in the world.
WorldPay is the only way to accept such a universal range of payments through one merchant account, one payment processing system, 24/7.
Elemental. And easy too. The way to accept a world of payments.
Security is probably one of the most significant concerns for both the shopper and the retailer during an online transaction. In reality an online transaction is probably more secure than a card transaction in a shop or conducted over the telephone or by fax, as the information transmitted online is highly encrypted using complicated logarithm combinations.
The WorldPay payment system uses a combination of both established and innovative techniques to ensure the security and integrity of all sensitive data. Furthermore, our public web servers are certified by Thawte, a public Certificate Authority, ensuring that both the shopper and retailer can have confidence that nobody can impersonate WorldPay to obtain confidential information.
Transaction Encryption
The transfer of the purchase details from the retailers site to WorldPay are encapsulated using our own encrypted and digitally-signed protocol. This uses a combination of standard methods such as PGP, RSA and MD5 to ensure that the information passed is secure and tamper-proof.
Data Storage
Data storage on WorldPay systems, and the communication between WorldPay and the worldwide banking networks, is regularly audited by the banking authorities to ensure a secure transaction environment. We also ensure that we stay up-to-date with the latest versions of any third-party code we use, and continually review our own proprietary code.
We (WorldPay Limited) are committed to protecting your privacy as an internet user whenever you buy, or consider buying, goods or services from a supplier who uses the WorldPay payment facilities (or whenever you are making a charitable donation to an organisation which uses those facilities). Your supplier, or the charitable organisation, will generally be using our facilities in connection with payment by you using a credit or debit card (or possibly some other form of payment over the internet). We recognise our responsibility to keep confidential at all times any information about you which we acquire in connection with such a transaction, whether directly from yourself or through the supplier or charitable organisation. WorldPay Limited is owned by The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc. We protect your personal information on the internet to an equivalent high standard to that which you would experience through any other channels of the bank, such as bank branches, cash machines or on the telephone. Please note, however, that our responsibility is necessarily limited to protection by us of information which we obtain. We cannot, of course, ourselves control the use or disclosure by your supplier (or the charitable organisation) of any information which they obtain from you.
Collection of Information
To enable us to provide secure payment facilities we will typically acquire information which includes your name, your credit or debit card numbers (with the expiry date) your e-mail and billing addresses, and (where applicable) the delivery address.
Use and disclosure of Information
We use the information which you enter onto the WorldPay payment page to obtain authorisation of the transaction from the issuer of the credit or debit card and our own or the supplier's bank and to process the payment. The information may be transferred out of the European Union in certain cases for the purposes of processing transactions by us. If this does occur the data will only be transferred to environments equally secure as that provided by us in the UK.
Some details from your transaction (such as your name and email and delivery address, but never your card details) are made available to the supplier or charity through our customer management system, which allows them to keep track of what transactions have been made. (These details are available to the supplier or charity wherever they are based; if they are based outside of the European Union then those details will be available to them outside the European Union). Subject to the above, WorldPay will not disclose the information to third parties, or make any use of it, without your permission (unless we are required to do so by statute or by an authorised body in order to aid the investigation or prevention of crime).
Security
WorldPay is committed to protecting the security of your data. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. For example, we store the personal information you provide in computer servers with limited access that are located in controlled facilities. When we transmit sensitive information (such as a credit card number) over the internet, we protect it through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
Cookies
Cookies are text files, used by your computer's browser, that store visitor session data. Cookies, by themselves, do not identify the individual user. Cookies are commonly used on the internet and do not harm your system. We currently use cookies to collate general management data which is used to plan enhancements to our services. WorldPay never stores any personal information in cookies (on any computer that you may use) that can be used to identify you, such as your name or account numbers.
If you do not want us to use cookies you may be able to configure your browser not to accept them. Please refer to your browser's 'help' facility for further information. However, you should bear in mind that this may affect our ability to process the transactions you wish to have authorised.
2. Paypal Secure Payment Policy
About Us
PayPal allows any business or consumer with an email address to securely, conveniently and cost-effectively send and receive payments online. Our network builds on the existing financial infrastructure of bank accounts and credit cards to create a global, real-time payment solution. We deliver a product ideally suited for small businesses, online merchants, individuals and others currently underserved by traditional payment mechanisms.
The size of our network and widening acceptance of our product have helped us become the leading payment network for online auction websites, including eBay. PayPal is also being increasingly used at other e-commerce sites for the sale of goods such as electronics and household items, the sale of services such as web design and travel, and the sale of digital content. Offline businesses, including lawyers, contractors and physicians, have increasingly begun to receive payments online through PayPal. PayPal's service, which lets users send payments for free, can be used from PCs or web-enabled mobile phones.
PayPal (Europe) Ltd is a private limited company incorporated in the UK. PayPal Inc. (which is a parent company of PayPal (Europe) Ltd) was acquired by eBay in October 2002, and is located in California, USA. PayPal is the 2002 SIIA Codie Awards winner for "Best eCommerce Solution" and is recognized by PC Magazine as one of "The Top 100 Web Sites."
Your Security is PayPal's Top Priority
With the industry's most-advanced encryption, fraud prevention, and Buyer and Seller Protection Policies, PayPal is dedicated to keeping your account safe and secure from scams and fraud.
Data Security and Encryption
The security of your information, transactions, and money is the core of our business and our top priority at PayPal.
PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available). Before you even register or log in to our site, our server checks that you're using an approved browser - one that uses SSL 3.0 or higher.
Once your information reaches us, it resides on a server that is heavily guarded both physically and electronically. Our servers sit behind an electronic firewall and are not directly connected to the Internet, so your private information is available only to authorised computers. |
